Avenue of the Giants

Avenue of the Giants in Northern California runs through Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which is home to the tallest trees in the world, the amazing Redwoods. It is an absolutely beautiful, quiet and peaceful place, and I feel very lucky to have been able to experience it.

Oh how I loved seeing these magnificent redwoods, Bertie. They are not easy to photograph, with their immensity, but you pulled it off brilliantly here, with the rays of light coming through. This morning as I write this comment, I am in the Avenue of the Giants, waiting for the sun to rise so I can go see them. A truly lovely place to be, and you captured it so well.

Thank you so much Jet for your kind compliment, good to hear, and I’m glad you like the photos. Better still, you are actually there!!! Wonderful, I know you will enjoy being amongst these beautiful, gentle giants.

I love the light filtered between the trees as well Bertie. Jokingly, we call these “Jesus Rays.” We call them this because in many of the cathedrals we’ve visited, smoke from the offering candles and bright sunlight coming into the rose windows produce “Jesus Rays.” πŸ™‚ ~James

Thank you very much James! I did not know about the ‘Jesus Rays’ and that’s the nice thing about blogging, you learn something all the time. In any case it’s an inspiring world.
